Dame Helen Mirren was a surprise addition to the cast of Fast & Furious 8 last year, but it seems her research for the role was a little, er, lacking.
That’s according to her co-star Luke Evans, anyway, who was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night (January 17). He plays Owen Shaw in the turbo-charged franchise, and although Dame Helen played his character’s mother, the pair never actually met.
They did meet, however, on the set of upcoming film Anna, a French crime thriller directed by Léon filmmaker Luc Besson and also starring Cillian Murphy. In fact, they had dinner together, which is when Luke realized Dame Helen had no idea who he was.
Hashtag awks. When Luke explained they’d been in a film together, Dame Helen was mortified — but she did have a very good reason for why she’d forgotten him.
