Shakespeare‘s history plays are heading for the screen again, with Hollywood darling Timothée Chalamet taking the role played by Tom Hiddleston in The Hollow Crown.
He’ll play Prince Hal/Henry V in The King, a new film The Hollywood Reporter says is based on Shakespeare plays Henry IV (Parts 1 and 2) and Henry V. And in a move bound to set the internet alight, he’ll be joined by Twilight star Robert Pattinson, who’ll play the French dauphin Louis.

Okay, yeah. It’s started.
As with The Hollow Crown, the rest of the cast is pretty spectacular. Ready Player One‘s Ben Mendelsohn will play Hal’s father King Henry IV; Yoga Hosers‘s Lily-Rose Depp will play his betrothed, Princess Catherine; Dunkirk‘s Tom Glynn-Carney will play Harry Hotspur; and Mission Impossible‘s Sean Harris will play one of the soldiers the new King Henry V visits before the Battle of Agincourt.
As for Falstaff, the “one true friend” who coaches young Hal in how to become a king, he’ll be played by Loving‘s Joel Edgerton, who also collaborated with director David Michôd to condense three lengthy plays into one film screenplay.
All eyes, though, will be on Timothée, who wowed us with his award-winning performance in Call Me by Your Name and has since stacked up roles in Lady Bird, Hot Summer Nights and the aptly-named Beautiful Boy. Perhaps this latest role will give him a chance to get some advice from Robert Pattinson, who knows a thing or two about carving out a post-heartthrob career.
Cameras started rolling in the U.K. today (June 1), with the film expected to launch on Netflix in 2019.
