Casting News: John Boyega and Letitia Wright to Star in Sci-Fi Romance ‘Hold Back the Stars’

Former classmates John Boyega and Letitia Wright are finally starring in a movie together, eight years after going to acting school together.

The Star Wars and Black Panther stars are both from London, where they attended the Identity School of Acting alongside fellow rising star Malachi Kirby (Roots) and Damson Idris (Snowfall). John recently told The Grio how he and Letitia would hang out at McDonald’s after class, talking about their dreams and visions for the future.

Well, some of those dreams have certainly come true. Not only have the pair ended up in two of the biggest movies of the decade, but Deadline reports they’re now set to take the lead roles in Hold Back the Stars, a sci-fi romance billed as “Romeo & Juliet meets Gravity.”

Based on a novel of the same name by Katie Khan, it tells the story of a man and woman reminiscing about their relationship on a utopian Earth, as they fall through space with only 90 minutes of oxygen left to survive.

Okay, so that sounds… tense.

Before all that though, there’s the small matter of the two massive franchises John and Letitia are part of. John is currently filming Episode IX, the final instalment of the main Star Wars story due out for Christmas 2019, while Letitia will reprise her role as Princess Shuri in the Black Panther sequel and the Avengers film coming next May.

Are you excited to see these two work together?
