It’s finally here! The trailer for the fourth and final Avengers movie arrived this morning (December 7), bringing a ten-year story to a close under the title Endgame.

It all began way back in 2008 with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), so it’s only fitting that’s where it should end, as Tony Stark mourns his friends while cast adrift in space.

Meanwhile Thor (Chris Hemwsorth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) are on Earth, attempting to discover a way of defeating Thanos following the catastrophic events of Infinity War.

It’s all terribly dramatic, so it’s good there’s a hint at some light relief when Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) arrives at the end. Marvel fans were also quick to point out Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), who’s returned to the fray after a notable absence in the last movie.

The trailer doesn’t show how other characters will return, however. For instance there’s Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Nebula (Karen Gillan). Gillan told Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night (December 4) she’s had to block her own mother from finding out spoilers.

Avengers: Endgame opens in U.S. theaters on May 3, 2019. Something tells us there’ll be a lot of rumors until then.

Are you ready for the end?
