Casting News: Daisy Ridley to Star in a Comedy Superhero Movie

If Daisy Ridley thought she’d escaped Josh Gad‘s constant questioning about the future of Star Wars, then she’s got another thing coming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Last Jedi star is now down to star in Super-Normal, a superhero comedy also featuring Josh and his Beauty and The Beast co-star Luke Evans.

Apparently the movie will be “a character-driven subversive take on the genre that Hollywood and the rest of the world loves too much.”

Josh came up with the idea for the film, which he’s developing along with Moana writers and brothers Aaron and Jordan Kandell.

It’ll be Daisy’s first foray into comedy, unless you count her voicing Cotton Tail in next year’s Peter Rabbit. After that and The Last Jedi opens, her next two roles will be more than a little dramatic, what with her starring in Ophelia, a retelling of Hamlet from his ex-girlfriend’s point of view, and as Viola Eade in director Doug Liman‘s adaptation of Chaos Walking.

There’s no word yet on when cameras will get rolling on Super-Normal, but the good news is you’ll be able to watch it from the comfort of your own home, as it’s due to launch on Netflix.

Can you see Daisy as a comedy superhero?
