WATCH: Doctor Strange Finally Makes an Appearance in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Trailer

A new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok released yesterday (August 16) has finally given us a glimpse of Doctor Strange, a.k.a. Benedict Cumberbatch doing his best American accent in a big swishy cloak.

We’ve known Strange would join his fellow Avengers since last year, when the post-credits sequence in his standalone movie showed him hobnobbing with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) over a magical, refilling a pint of beer, but this is the first time we’ve seen him in Thor’s territory.

The new international trailer doesn’t show much more footage than what we’ve already seen in the previous two, except, crucially, for this new opening scene between Thor and Strange. Things have changed since they last met, gone is the beer and the jokey chat, as Doctor Strange warns Thor of what is to come on his home planet of Asgard.

“I sense a great change in your future,” says Benedict. Er, we mean Doctor Strange. “Destiny has dire plans for you, my friend.”

And destiny, as we know from the epic first trailer, comes in the shape of the Goddess of Death (Cate Blanchett), and the team of super beings Thor must assemble to defeat her.

How exactly the mystic Doctor Strange fits in with the Asgardian universe is still anyone’s bet, as is whether he’ll appear on-screen with Thor’s brother Loki, played (of course) by Benedict’s War Horse co-star Tom Hiddleston.

It’s now less than three months until Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3.

Are you ready?
