Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon might just be the latest American star of a Richard Curtis comedy, following in the footsteps of Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Julia Roberts (Notting Hill), and Laura Linney (Love Actually).

We already know that Lily James (Darkest HourBaby Driver) and Himesh Patel (Damned) will star in the as-yet untitled project. Variety now reports that they could be joined by SNL‘s McKinnon, whose film career was kickstarted by her role in Paul Feig‘s 2016 X-chromosome-fueled Ghostbusters reboot.

Kate is reportedly “in negotiations” to join the cast of the film, which will be a musical comedy set in the 1960s. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kate will play a “talent agent,” while Lily is playing “a teacher.”

Kate’s just finished filming the action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me, which is due to open in August this year. She’s also recently appeared in Office Christmas PartyRough Night and Irreplaceable You alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Michiel Huisman.

In addition to casting, we do know Danny Boyle is in the director’s chair — yep, Danny Boyle of Steve Jobs and Trainspotting fame.

It’s such a big deal that it’s even taking precedence over the next Bond movie. Just recently Boyle was quoted as saying it will be primary focus, before starting work on his idea for Bond 25, the final installment of the franchise to star Daniel Craig as 007.

Are you excited to see Kate in a Richard Curtis movie?
