Some lucky Glaswegians have spotted Benedict Cumberbatch filming Melrose on their streets, but you’d be forgiven for thinking he were somewhere else on the planet.
That’s because parts of the Scottish city have been made to look like New York, complete with yellow taxi cabs and American flags.
Glasgow’s turned into the Big Apple

The new series will bring to life the so-called “Patrick Melrose” semi-autobiographical novels written by Edward St. Aubyn, which tell the story of an aristocratic playboy (that’s Benedict) growing up in a dysfunctional upper class family.
As we told you back in February, when Benedict’s involvement was first announced, each episode will follow one of the five novels, with settings ranging from the South of France in the 1960s to New York in the 1980s and Britain in the early 2000s.
Clearly Benedict is filming the story set in New York, except it’s actually Glasgow. Residents have been told that parts of the city center will be blocked, and bus routes diverted, over the next few days, but that hasn’t stopped them getting closer to the action.

Some people, however, were more concerned with getting from A to B:
Cannot believe Benedict Cumberbatch has caused my bus to be diverted how unthoughful can he be

And then, if you really keep your eyes peeled, you can see Benedict get out of a cab and make a dash for it into this building:

Melrose has been picked up by Showtime in the U.S., but there’s still no official air date.
Does Benedict look like how you imagined Patrick Melrose?
